1.) We have figured out that generating realistic synthetic images depends more on simulating the material, and this is also the more difficult part. Glass inspection, for example, is very difficult. There are very strange reflections, which are difficult to simulate. Therefore, it is important to have someone with experience in this field on your side to maximise the benefits.
2.) In the past there were separate solu-tions to generate synthetic data. What is really important now, is to integrate these solutions with other software. Users have to look, where does it work and where are the use cases. Now they are trying to use synthetic data for more and more use cases and to make it available. The next step will be to integrate these data in the actual process for machine vision.
